可以還原使用舊版本RMAN所創(chuàng)建的備份，最舊版本為9.2.0.8。在創(chuàng)建備份的數(shù)據(jù)庫版本與還原備份的數(shù)據(jù)庫版本之間必須有支持的升級路徑存在。比如，源數(shù)據(jù)庫的版本為11gr2并且配置使用spfile參數(shù)文件。數(shù)據(jù)庫啟用了歸檔與快速閃回區(qū)?？刂莆募脖慌渲脼樽詣觽浞荨υ磾?shù)據(jù)庫創(chuàng)建了RMAN備份，并且包含了歸檔重做日志。要還原這些備份的主機上運行的是Oracle 12cr2的數(shù)據(jù)庫版本。
還原使用舊版本RMAN所創(chuàng)建備份到當前目標數(shù)據(jù)庫版本(12.2)的操作步驟如下:
1.驗證創(chuàng)建備份的數(shù)據(jù)庫版本與還原備份的數(shù)據(jù)庫版本之間是否存在升級路徑。例如，將Oracle 11.2.0.4所創(chuàng)建的RMAN備份還原到Oracle 12.2，那么必須支持從11.2.0.4升級到12.2，根據(jù)Oracle的升級指南，11.2.0.3及以后版本可以直接升級到Oracle 12.2。
2.對源數(shù)據(jù)庫(jyrac為rac數(shù)據(jù)庫)創(chuàng)建RMAN備份

RMAN查找spfile參數(shù)文件失敗，因為它還沒有被還原，然而，實例將會使用虛擬參數(shù)文件來進行啟動。
8.從源數(shù)據(jù)庫的自動備份文件中還原spfile參數(shù)文件
因為源數(shù)據(jù)庫啟用了控制文件自動備份，所以spfile參數(shù)文件會被包含在自動備份文件中。為了還原非缺省格式的自動備份，需要執(zhí)行set controlfile autobackup format命令來指定格式。下面的命令將設置控制文件自動備份格式，將源數(shù)據(jù)庫的spfile參數(shù)文件還原為/u01/app/oracle/product/12.2.0/db/dbs/initjyrac1.ora文件，然后關閉目標數(shù)據(jù)庫。

9.編輯pfile參數(shù)文件并修改所需要的參數(shù)。這包括compatible參數(shù)，如果目標數(shù)據(jù)庫的compatible參數(shù)不同于源數(shù)據(jù)庫的設置，那么在目標數(shù)據(jù)庫版本中這個參數(shù)會被棄用。更新以_DEST結尾的參數(shù)來反映新的目錄結構。

控制文件會被還原到pfile參數(shù)文件中control_files參數(shù)所指定的目錄中。
12.在目標主機上將源數(shù)據(jù)庫的備份文件注冊到rman檔案庫中。如果目錄中的所有文件有共同的前綴，那么可以使用catalog start with命令。如果想要單獨指定文件名來進行注冊，那么執(zhí)行catalog datafilecopy命令。我這里所有的備份文件存儲在/ora_xtts/rman目錄中，因此使用catalog start with命令進行注冊。

13.還原與恢復源數(shù)據(jù)庫
如果數(shù)據(jù)文件要被還原到目標主機上的目錄與源數(shù)據(jù)庫所在的目錄不相同，那么必須使用set newname命令來對還原的數(shù)據(jù)文件指定新的目錄路徑。如果聯(lián)機重做日志將創(chuàng)建在與源數(shù)據(jù)庫不相同的目錄中，那么必須使用alter database rename file命令來為每個聯(lián)機重做日志指定新的目錄路徑，在這里使用set newname for database命令來為所有被還原的數(shù)據(jù)文件指定新目錄，新的聯(lián)機重做日志文件使用alter database rename file命令來指定，并且指定恢復目標scn。
